I am so happy for mom and chick and for everyone involved!

It was as I thought--mom brought food for the little one. I don't know if she caught or he caught it.

M did go to box again chups at chick and then sits outside for about 2 minutes.
9:02pm - Red back with som e good leftover and feeds again

I think things went well so far. male seems afraid of chick but hopefully he will adjust. chick has some sort of band on leg. I will try and find it ou t and I will post Red band. they managed ot get it

love how sh e just wants that chick under her.

there was no ta feed till 4:25pm
Female went out a few times but nothing( male must not be putting things in a stash, wilmington all over)
but female came back with a big prey item. Almost lost in front stinger. It i s so windy.
Male has come 3 times, just a touch and go. ( was doing well with eggs but now a big chick, has him confused, I think.
Red band has been used ot prey always coming to her. Hate to lose a great male but such is nature.
REd wants ot brood but chick a bit big She grabs it an d stuffs it under. it eventually pops out .
she is proving to be a good female. Has had to grow up a lo tin last week.

She really wants to brood this chick. Too bad it is bigger, but had to be older so female could go out and hunt if needed. It had to be able to regulate body temp.

I haven't seen the chick this morning...but, the male stopped by..and they exchanged a few words.

Chick is hunkered under mom. It is very cool this morning. There will be wind rain etc.
Hopefully male does not eat her stash

The male seems afraid of chick, but he was up there a bit earlier when Female was feeding chick. He had gone to left fence out of sight and called. After your picture , he left again and called for quite awhile.

Very cool and windy. This is why an older chick was put in, so mom could leave it, if she had to to hunt.

He is a nice looking male. he is a bit spooked by chick. He was getting used to eggs and a few more days and he may have incubated. but time was not on our side. We had ot bring chick in , before female got bored of eggs , as she did have 2 chicks and 2 eggs hatching. and we could only wait so long to bring in chick as it was bigger. She had to be able to bond with chick.
but today he has stayed a bi t longer, if female is there

had ot wait longer for feed today, as hunting must not have been as good, but two feed , 3:22pm and 6:22pm
REd band went our several times to hunt


at noon male did come to front of box and out to perch for a minute( still afraid of chick)

Gord gave me info , yesterday. ( they were able to get when they put chick in)
she is a 2019 hatch from Red deer , Capri Hotel,

They had to remove chicks , (that were just at jumping stage) that year ,as Hotel was going to be renovating roof for a month. Hack site had too many juveniles and so they were hacked at our Calgary site. ( this is why red bands were put on them so they could be identified. )

Her dad is Miss Edmontons first chick from Weber building, in 2010 .
Miss Edmonton ( my first falcon , and I even held her) had lost her nest site at U of A in 2007, tried again 2008, licked her wounds and found Weber building. she had a transmitter so we were able to track her migration.

those that have know me since 2006, know how I loved Miss Edmonton . . she is my avatar

Peter and I watched C/92 fledge. He did very well ( he was banded as a female ) He was a large male.

so 6/Y is special to me now as she is granddaughter of Miss Edmonton and all her chicks in 2022, 2023, and thi s year, are all great children of MIss Edmonton

so even though we lost a precious female in 2022 to avian flu, I am glad that 6/Y ended up here
