There was a feed earlier this morning. 6/y brought in a decent amt and chick ate well.

Male was in and out at front while 6y was on cam.

Will still be cool and rain for next while

The. We will be too hot. ( can’t remember a June like this , for a long time)

So glad that Red Band has special meaning to you, Bev. That comforted us in Harrisburg when Mom and Lil Dad died--that their "replacements" were somewhere in their family.

The weather works out for Red Band cause she can brood the chick without complaint!

5:05am- mice feed , medium prey

9:35am - 6/Y in with big prey item. fresh kill

male has been in a few times. , to the front. last time he was at front, went into box, chupped and out.
2:01pm- 6/y out kakking. dhick up and looking

There were 6 nice feeds yesterday. I do feel 6Y doing this on her own. Do see male but we will see.
One small feed and a big one as of 8:27 this morning

Chick is stuffed and 6/Y. Aking sure no one taking this chick. She tries to brood but sometimes hard

Nasty weather later today and tomorrow

Was just watching that a bit ago. That is a last years youngster. It has bands . Would be cool if it was one from here in 2023.

Saw male twice today. Lots of traffic around this year. Miss our male

banded youngster, sat at hole for about40 minutes but when it made a move ot front, 6/Y went defensive and i t left in a hurry

very very windy , so slimmer picking today but she has had 2 small feeds .

i have a vidoe that took place just before and during picture
edited as feed lasted 10 minutes, but it shows ho w windy there. it took female 3 tires ot get prey in box and male had ot wait before he could get in.

I am not sure males role yet.

Female last seen at 12: 38pm . She fed chick and then went off to left fence. No sign of problems, no sign of intruders etc.

Have notified who I have to. I think I am pulling back. Hopefully , we can get chick tomorrow.

My spirit is crushed

6/Y still had not returned by 8am June 14. There was no sign of anything wrong. She fed once in morning and once about 12:35pm. She came in normal and left normal. Was she sick? What? She would have returned if possible

So our wonderful sweet chick was removed. She would not survive. She was fed before transport to our breeders.
6/Y loved that chick , if you watched her. First few days she kept patrolling the catwalk and kept looking above at stack etc. she was making sure it was safe, no one could take her chick.
As it grew, it was getting too big to really brood, but she found a way.
She took care of this chick on her own. ( but I do not see beyond the box) He may have hunted a bit but appearances were rare.
Yesterday in the evening, male quickly came to front and left.

I wil continue to watch to see what unfolds. Tonight I will post a few cute photos.
To lose our wonderful male and our female within a few weeks is crushing. 6/Y provided me with a connection to Miss Edmonton. But we have 3 seasons of chicks, to carry her name

This is the male.
Now he comes and spends time.

The security staff looked all over for her. Never saw anything wrong. She was not anxious.

I need some days to regroup. Just numb

Male has been present at least 3 times a day, since chick removed, but yesterday. No show.
Peter and I are hoping to get out there this weekend and look around. Something not right
This was not a territorial battle, with our female, as it would have been around.
