From Bev.

Genesee

The foster chick that was placed in the nest had to be removed today. The female, 6/Y, has disappeared. Just heartbreaking...

RE: Palmyra

Both chicks are missing and it doesn't sound good. Please see the thread...and send prayers and positive thoughts.

From Mean Jean regarding Lincoln:

ID on parents:

female b/bl U/57: 2022 hatch Kansas City roof of Commerce Tower apartments
Male b/bl 39/V: 2021 hatch, Kansas City American Century Investments. (we watched this chick hatch)

Now, if they would have reported those band numbers, we would have had them in our records!! grrrrrrr

For our records. Just posted on FB last night.

RE: UNION

On 6/11, a fledgling (BN/55) was rescued from the water of a bridge nest and placed at Union in hopes it would be accepted.

The Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge falcons were banded June 4 - two females, Barb and Janet, and one male, Chum.
Barb and Janet were named in honor of retired bridge toll collectors Barb Winowiecki and the late Janet Hotchkiss. Chum was named in remembrance of Janet’s habit of greeting many people as “chum.”

Update on Houghton-Hancock Lift Bridge (Copper Country Birding) - The falcons are still nesting on the bridge, despite two new nestboxes built for them in 2021 and placed on either side of the river. A bridge worker was able to look into the hole in the i-beam and thinks he saw two chicks. They should be poking their heads out of the hole before the end of June. Hopefully someone takes pictures!

Amersfoort, NL

(I actually followed this nest closely). "Smallie", as he was affectionately dubbed, died after he was rescued from water. Apparently he had had several successful flights, except for the last one. They must have thought he was ok, so they returned him to the nest tower...but discovered he had passed later.

He had a huge following on YouTube. He hatched at least 5 days later than the others..but was a little spitfire and while the others were growing their juvie feathers, he was still sporting down. He was just adorable and his siblings let him get away with murder.

:sorrow: "Smallie"..
