Video: Portland Redtails Have Three Eggs in the Nest

A pair of mating Red-tail hawks has returned to a downtown Portland building. They have three eggs in the nest. The first egg was laid between March 3 and March 4.

There were three eggs in 2009. Of those, two juveniles survived

:egghatch: FIRST HATCH! 7pm est tonight. had to wait to get a pic. chick is right next to moms chest, mom rolled the 3rd egg behind it, blocking view somewhat. this was the egg in the middle that hatched, I watched it cracked and trying to come out, but could not get a pic since mom sat on it then! :loveshow: :girlluv: Image

Video: Only Two Redtail Chicks Remain at the Portland Nest

I remember when the male nestling died of Tric two years ago.

 Video from 2008

The remaining two nestlings look healthy – so far.

It is very sad we lost one of the chicks. I checked in on the remaining 2 Friday, and just checked again today, Sunday and am shocked :o at how BIG they are since! I took this capture to show their wonderful camouflage. When I first clicked on, I thought Is that the mother or an eagle in the nest? Number one is soooo big and their feathers coming in with some downy still left, gives them such camouflage that you can really only spot number 2 by his bobblehead! His body is perfectly hidden with the nest material. This will protect them when mom leaves them. So beautiful, there is always something good following a loss. I adore these red tails. :happysun Image

I've been watching from time to time but did not see a redtail. Good capture!
