Another Loon cam online...From the Cornell site!
Pacific Loon from Anchorage ...

Just starting to nest and work on the egg area.

Pacific Loon info ... (Looks a tad different than the Common Loon, the head area)

Pacific Loons are smaller than Common Loons (but just as fierce ;))

:clapegg: Hi all. Had a little scare last night at the mnbound loon site. Intruder again, mom or dad left the eggs for over 8 minutes, came back and left again for a few minutes. During the 8 minute period, about 20ft from the nest did a wing display and I mean SCREAMING bloody murder every sound in their repetoire! Blew my laptop speakers away and probably scared the neighbors! All kinds of noises. In the discussion forum, alot are thinking that this pair is not the pair that have been coming for the past 4 or 5 years to Larrys nest platform. Maybe the original pair got delayed for weather or something, and this other pair took over their spot and has laid the 2 eggs. Now that is the original pair fighting to get their spot back. So its kind of sad if they do, because the eggs laid will be destroyed. And it might actually be too late for their own to be laid then? And sad because this pair did get to the platform first, even if we do love the pair thats always come there. Thought it might be a different pair because she is not as dedicated to staying on the nest as the original loon mom was, and she really rolls those eggs close to the edge, scaring everyone. She also has a different twang to her call which Larry says he realized right away. So who do we hope for to win the fight? Did not think the problem this year would be TOO many loons! :o

OH NOOOO! I did not realize a new pair was here. Thank you for this update, LeeLee. Oh my, Mother Nature sure throws me for a loop sometimes. Let's keep an eye on this nest, for sure.

Video: Pacific Loons Build a Nest in Anchorage, Alaska

May 14, 2010: Pacific Loons have started building a nest in Anchorage, Alaska. They normally lay two eggs (one egg if it’s a replacement nest). Incubation is done by both parents and lasts 23 – 25 days. We may not see eggs until June, as the location is so far north. Gavia pacifica

Well aren't those Pacific Loons just as Beautiful as the others?
That is to bad about Minnesota nest lets hope whoever it is goes and finds a new nest even if it is the original pair ( I hate thinking this way) there are eggs now and that the main concern in my opinion

When I recorded the Pacific Loons yesterday, there were some issues with the cam. I was lucky it was working while the loons swam by!

Hope the Common Loon cam in MN is up and running soon. It's like a soap opera. Well, that's the way it is in all of the nests: always problems with intruders, weather, food, etc.
