Whew, I just checked the nest at Belarus and the chicks are all there! I think they were just hiding off camera last night (I believe that the ledge they are on extends quite a bit past the two round openings).

England - Aston

The oldest of these 5 chicks (hatched 5/12-5/19) should be about ready to fledge now.

Image

Germany - Waldmühle

The oldest of these 6 chicks (hatched 5/15-5/21) should be ready to fledge in a couple of days.

Italy - Puglia/Basilicata
There's a new web-cam link on a lesser kestrel nest in the Alta Murgia National Park :loveshow: .

http://www.livestream.com/parcogrillaio ... cogrillaio

The Park is inland in the south of Italy. It's not very far from Matera, Basilicata, where there are many lesser kestrels.

The nest is an artificial one set up by the LIPU (the Italian bird protection society) and it looks as though there are four eggs :eggdance: .

I'll post other information about the nest as I find out

Warbler - Thanks so much for letting us know about the new Lesser Kestrel nest in Italy! Plus it's nice that we can get to it via our regular Italian bird links page (http://www.birdcam.it/wclinks.php). I checked it out this morning and saw at least 3 eggs there - there might even be more.

Italy - Alta Murgia

P.S. Since this nest is listed as "Grillai nel P. N. dell'Alta Murgia" on the Italian bird links page, I thought it would be best to refer to it as "Italy - Alta Murgia" on the forum.

June 12 Update: Now that the kestrels here are listed as Ginger and Fred on the Italy cam page, I think that "Italy - Ginger & Fred" would be the best way to refer to this nest.

KF - Thanks for the video of the almost-ready-to-fledge kestrels at the Germany - Waldmühle nest!

Hanny - Loved your video of the three Bergum kestrels being scooped up for banding and then being returned afterwards. The chicks were so cute, but the parents looked really upset as they kept flying overhead by the nest box!

A huge thanks to Carlo for the new cam at Rebecca and Cirro's nest in Rome. I think everyone will agree the quality is much better :girlluv:

Italy - Ginger & Fred

How nice to see that the Lesser Kestrels in the Alta Murgia nest now have the names Fred and Ginger! I caught Fred this morning on incubation duty.

I didn't take a picture here, but it looks as if 2 of the 5 chicks have fledged!

Germany - Gasmert

Looks like at least 3 chicks have hatched now!

Image

Germany - Waldmühle

Has one of the chicks fledged?

Image

Italy - Hola & Simone

It looks like only one adult here. Have all the chicks fledged?

And then there were only 2.

Image

England - Derbyshire

I see 4 chicks...or is it 5 chicks now?

Image

Denmark

It's just one big pile of fluffy white chicks here.

Image

Germany - Waldmühle

It definitely looks as if 4 of the 6 chicks have fledged already today.
