Edit: Nope..he emailed us a different one...hmmmmmmmmmm...the link to the one above is only of the WE nests...but some great pics in that one...I know he'll post this somewhere, just gotta remember where....

Edit, again: I emailed Greg and asked if he had his report posted anywhere on line...

I'm reading that report (thanks for posting it, Kitten)! I see that Port Washington's female was found dead on 8/13 & I was wondering if the tiercel found a new mate yet. Kitten, you caught a pic of 2 falcons bonding at Port Washington on 8/30, so I guess he did! :attention:

Remember Jack, the supertiercel at 2 Canadian nests? Well, apparently in Wisconsin there is a female version of him. From Greg Septon's report:

Over the past few years, I have been able to document some interesting behavior and have recorded (by band numbers) the same adults at different nest sites during the nesting season – even when they have young of their own at their home nest. In mid-June, for example, I found and photographed the same adult female at two nest sites with two different males the same morning.
At her home nest site, she and her mate were raising a single chick. At the other site where I found her that morning, she was in courtship display with the resident male while her mate was back at home caring for their youngster. The sites are about 4-5 miles apart

It also occurred to me that this report doesn't mention Kimberly, so I wonder if something happened to one of the adults after that lone egg was laid in the box... :?

Now see the report I got has a lot more nest information in it and it did say about kimberly

FAILED NEST SITES
Kimberly: New Page Kimberly Mill (formerly StoraEnso Kimberly Mill)
A peregrine was first observed here on March 13 and by the 17th a pair was
present. One egg was laid on April 15 and the adult female disappeared shortly
afterwards. Around April 24 another female showed up and was observed on and
off for the remainder of the season however no additional eggs were laid.
Interestingly, on the morning of June 14 I found a pair present here calling to
each other with the female inside the nest box. When she flushed I climbed to the
rooftop and photographed & ID’d her as “Nora” (b/g) P/76, the same female
nesting at the Thilmany Mill in Kaukauna. When I visited the Thilmany Mill later
that morning Nora was back at her nest and I photographed her there as well. It
appears Nora was spending time at both nest sites. And, when I mentioned this
to observers at the Thilmany Mill they responded by saying that the male had
done most of the incubating this season – perhaps the reason only one of 4 eggs
hatched there. Both mills are along the Fox River and about 4-5 miles apart.

Thanks for the info about Kimberly, Kitten! So Kimberly was the nestsite Greg used as an example for odd behavior with the female going between 2 nestsites. I can understand tiercels doing that (since there is a shortage of tiercels), but it surprises me that falcons are doing it! :o

New webcam, live streaming:

This is a WE Energies site at MaltEurop in Wisconsin. Kind of late in the year--too bad we didn't know about it earlier, but at least we have it for next season.

Yes, I did, Beth! :flirty: This is the nest where Raynie nested for 13 years & she laid 1 egg this year, then was replaced by Amylase. There is no mention of a fight between them, but Greg is assuming that Raynie is deceased. :-(

2010 Falcon Watch --- West Milwaukee: Malteurop

Nesting Details

Adult Female: "Raynie" (b/r) A/*H a 1995 produced falcon from Chicago.
This is Raynie's 12th year at this site.

Adult Male: "JJ" (b/g) 96/N produced in 2005 at the Renew Energy site at Jefferson, WI
- the old Ladish/Cargill site.

Raynie's Eggs 2010 - from Greg Septon:

April 26: 1 egg

May 3: 1 egg - Assumed this was all she would lay (since eggs are normally laid every
other day). This lone egg should have hatched between May 28-30.

June 2: I checked the nest box today hoping to find a chick and instead found
a total of 4 eggs.
If I "guestimate" that eggs 2, 3 & 4 were laid shortly after May 3, and incubation
began around May 7, hatch dates should be somewhere near June 9 - 11.

This site has been active since 1995 producing a total of 41 young (2.7/year).

GPS: 42 Degrees 59' 58 N, 87 Degrees 58' 02 W

They didn't change it on the webpage info, but Raynie is no longer the resident female of the MaltEuro nest. She is apparently deceased, although Greg didn't go into that. Amylase replaced Raynie.

Yea just thought I'd throw in a bit more info on the new nest, that is sad news it seems alot of nests are going thru harsh changes this yr.

Wow, thanks catwoman for sending me the report. So interesting to see so much information and to have names for adults and chicks. I need to read back through it at least twice more. Interesting, two females going between two nest sites. Nora and Maya? Maybe looking for nest upgrades? I can't remember if it was Carly or Bev. now talking about how falcons will keep moving from one nest to the next getting better and better nests. Atlanta's story was very touching. I do wish that more of these cams were streaming. It just makes it more interesting to watch when you can see all the little endearing interactions unfold. And that nest with those six little chicks.
:cloudnine:

That guy reporting on these nests has the best job in the world. :smilesun:
